This is a huge breakthrough in sample manipulation.

I was amazed!

  • hmmmm... that is so over my head... but it got me thinking about how little I know about music!
    • That's really amazing. I use this plug, but this will be quite an advanced update.

I wonder what exactly how the grouped pitches are analyzed and separated, and if any, what artifacts arise in the process. The example seemed pretty clean, but I wonder with are more irregular and tangled audio source, how smoothly this process can be performed. We shall see. Great idea. It will really open up a greater musical potential with that software for sure.
      • Even if they can only do it poorly now, it only means that it is capable of being done cleanly in the future.
        • Actually, one of the things I love to do with new technology like this is
purposefully find ways to confuse it.

Cher made millions off of purposefully confusing Antares Auto Tune.
That company is still in business because she suggested to the engineer
          to use it incorrectly.

I, too, can't wait to hear how it WON'T accurately reproduce, say, a full drum set.

Still, the samples of guitars and piano were stunningly good considering the complexity of the analysis
          that has to occur.

I remember when Melodyne first was able to separate fixed frequencies from sounds and leave them
          manipulateable.

I use to love to take percussion tracks and change their tuning and then fuck with the tuning of their fixed frequencies.

It really sounded like real percussion but you had never heard the sounds before............it was like percussion that would
occur in a different culture.................on another planet of sentient beings................very cool, indeed.
