As someone who is new to Logic and Apple can you suggest a sound card? I was going to get the M-Audio 410 but I hear it has issues with Apple.
Thoughts?

Re: Sound Card for Apple?
Thu, December 18, 2008 - 10:22 AMI've actually had luck with my Apple and a Firewire 410
but I hear that the RME cards are the bomb (though a bit pricey).
Everyone who owns them swears by them and say they won't ever go back.
The Firewire CAN be a little temperamental, at times. -

Re: Sound Card for Apple?
Mon, December 22, 2008 - 1:26 PMI've heard great things about Apogee's units. They are built to be used with Macs. The fidelity is apparently top notch and the price is reasonable - depending on who you are.

Re: Sound Card for Apple?
Mon, January 5, 2009 - 10:00 PMI am guessing you actually mean "audio interface"
unless you really want to put it inside.
What is your budget?
The best deal is the Mackie Onyx Satellite for $200 - nothing can touch it for that much.
and tons of routing options!
Apogee make a cheep $500 interface
The company makes the best - but I donno about this one specifically.
They also make a $2000 interface with 4 mic preAmps
and Logic knows exactly what to do with the one (ie they have a controll panel)
MOTU makes awesume musician grade interfaces.
I have a Traveller and would love the latest version -
The other stuff is great also.
plus there is a company that will hot rod the Traveller and other interfaces...

Re: Sound Card for Apple?
Tue, January 6, 2009 - 5:29 AMMan, I just checked and they are selling the
Mackie Onyx Sattelite for $150 at
www.audiolines.com/product.php
That's just a stupid great deal. It's 71% off of list price because I guess these
things just didn't sell all that well.
I just bought one for my new super quad core computer that I bought
refurbished from Tigerdirect.com for a jaw dropping $350.
thanks for the post, Patrick.

Re: Sound Card for Apple?
Wed, January 7, 2009 - 3:31 AMspoke too soon. After the website took
my credit card number last night, the site called and said
it was a mistake; that Mackie had dicontinued the product and that
they were sold out.
I found, it, however, for $179 plus $4 shipping from www.zZounds.com
If you are interested, I'd snag one now that they still exist.
I love that you can keep it installed on a desktop computer and take it
out of it's dock to use it , remotely , with a laptop without uninstalling it from the desktop.
