Simple MIDI question

I've been connecting my Yamaha S08 to my PC through a MIdisport 2x2, more out of habit than anything else. Are there any advantages to using the built-in USB MIDI port on the keyboard, assuming I'm not hooking up any other MIDI devices just now? I've got something of a "take the extra thing out of the loop" feeling.

if only for the fact that you use one midi cable to connect with your keyboards' USB connector as opposed
to two midi cables that are required to hook up to your Midisport 2X2 and then to your computer that
this would be the best way to do it.

I'd try both and just 'feel' how the keyboard feels.

One will have more latency than the other. If you can't hear or feel the difference, then , by all means,
use the keyboard's midi port and not the Midisport.

You aren't passing sounds, remember, so fidelity has nothing to do with it. The only question is how much
latency accrues with each method and you are the only person who can answer whether one bugs you and the
    other doesn't.
