Well, it's probably easy.
I am doing some very simple audio editing to create a loop. There's a millisecond of silence at the beginning and end of the song that keeps reappearing. It's driving me nuts!
Using Audacity I cut and pasted the parts I wanted together and it sounded perfect looped. Using Lame encoder I exported the file out into an mp3 since Audacity turn your work into a proprietary format. When I opened the mp3 version the silence reappeared and the loop was no longer seamless.
I tried Wavepad and removed the silence, saved, played back perfectly. That is until I closed the file and reopened it again. I cut and pasted just the music into a new file leaving the silence behind and again it was fine until I closed and reopened the new file.
How do I permanently get rid of the silence from the beginning and end of the song??

Re: easy audio editing question.
Thu, October 1, 2009 - 8:46 AMit sounds like it might not be your file, but the settings in the player you are playing it with. Which player are you using? -

Re: easy audio editing question.
Thu, October 1, 2009 - 9:35 AMI've only used Audacity 1.3.7 and Wavepad v 4.25 to play back the file as a loop. The only other player I've listened to the file on is iTunes but not for looped playback.
I am not technically creating a loop, but when played back on our website it will be looped (our webmaster handles that) and so far you can hear the hiccup because of the gap. I've never had this problem before.
I think I might start over. Maybe something got corrupted in the file and that silence before and after is permanent? -

I can't see how it could be permanent if you already sliced off the silence in wavepad. I know that when you burn cds there is an option to insert silence between tracks. So thats why i was thinking it could be some settings that need to be unchecked either in the save dialog, or in the playback dialog. But since I don't have Audacity or Wavepad, thats just a guess.
good luck.
